DEXSTA Federal Credit Union celebrated its 2026 Appreciation Banquet at the Hilton Wilmington/Christiana, bringing together all team members for an evening of connection, recognition, dinner, and team-building activities. The event highlighted the organization’s strong culture of appreciation while honoring the dedicated individuals who contribute to its continued success.

A central highlight of the evening was the recognition of Marie Davis, who received a special service award honoring her remarkable 50 years of volunteer service to DEXSTA Federal Credit Union.

Marie began her volunteer journey with DEXSTA five decades ago on the credit committee, where she embodied the “people helping people” philosophy by carefully reviewing loan applications from fellow members. Over the years, she has served on numerous committees and made history in 1992 as the first woman appointed Board Chair, a role she has held three times. She currently serves as Board Secretary.

Throughout her 50 years of service, Marie has witnessed and contributed to extraordinary growth at DEXSTA, including its transition from a single select employee group to a community charter, expansion from one office to six locations, multiple mergers consolidations, and significant growth in both membership and financial strength—from fewer than 5,000 members to nearly 41,000, loans growing from under $9 million to over $246 million, and assets increasing from under $15 million to more than $435 million.

Beyond DEXSTA, Marie has been a dedicated advocate for the credit union movement at both the state and national levels. She has served in leadership roles with the Delaware Credit Union League, including Board Chair, Vice Chair, Personnel Committee Chair, and Scholarship Committee Chair. She has also contributed nationally through CUNA Mutual policyholder representation and leadership roles with the Association of DuPont Credit Unions.

Her commitment to advocacy includes more than 30 years of participation in the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference and active involvement in legislative efforts supporting credit unions and their members. Marie also gives back to her community through volunteer work with her church and the local YWCA.

In addition to honoring Marie, the evening also celebrated several DEXSTA team members and volunteers for their service milestones, recognizing their dedication and contributions to the organization. Those honored included Peter Rooney, IT Infrastructure Engineer (5 years of service); Zenaida Gephardt, Vice Chair (5 years); Kim Hall, Assistant Secretary (5 years); Marie Olewnik, Member Contact Center Manager (10 years); Patrick Rhoades, Vice President of Operations (15 years); and Joseph Walsh, Vice President of Lending (15 years).

The event featured dinner, interactive games, and opportunities for team members to connect, fostering stronger relationships across departments.

“The credit union movement is built on volunteers and team members who give of themselves in the spirit of cooperation,” DEXSTA leadership shared. “Marie embodies that spirit in every way, and we are proud to honor her incredible legacy alongside the dedication of our entire team.”

DEXSTA Federal Credit Union congratulates Marie Davis and extends its appreciation to all team members and volunteers recognized for their continued commitment and service.
